Black Friday Shoppers Head Out Early for Gray Thursday Deals

SHOPPERS OUT IN FORCE GRABBING GIFTS AT BLACK FRIDAY PRICES. MANY ACTUALLY STARTED ON THANKSGIVING AS STORES LIKE TARGET, WAL-MART AND BEST BUY OPENED AT 6 PM FOR WHAT IS BEING CALLED GRAY THURSDAY. DAN RHOADES WAITING IN LINE AND GRABBING A 55 INCH TV.  HE SAYS HE WANTED A 50 INCH BUT HIS WIFE WON OUT, AND HE DIDN'T WANT TO COME SHOPPING BUT SHE DID SO HE CAME ALONG.  JUSTIN GULER STANDING IN LINE FOR HOURS AT BEST BUY IN CEDAR RAPIDS WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND AND TELLS OUR NEWS PARTNER CHANNEL 9 HE REALLY DIDN'T WANT TO BE THERE.  HE NOTES THEY HAD THANKSGIVING AT DINNER AND THEN TOOK OFF FOR THE STORE, BUT ONLY HAD TO WAIT IN LINE FOR 5 HOURS THIS YEAR AS OPPOSED TO 16 HOURS IN YEARS PAST.  SHOPPER TIM MCDONALD SAYS HE LIKES THE CONCEPT OF STORES OPENING ON THANKSGIVING INSTEAD OF MIDNIGHT FRIDAY OR LATER, AS PEOPLE SEEM TO BE MORE RELAXED AND 'CHILL'.  THE NATIONAL RETAIL FEDERATION ESTIMATES SALES ON GRAY THURSDAY/BLACK FRIDAY WILL INCREASE 3.9 PERCENT THIS YEAR.
