Iowa City Man Involved in Stand-off Now Faces Escape Charge

AN IOWA CITY MAN INVOLVED IN A STAND-OFF WITH POLICE OVER A WEEK AGO FACES ADDITIONAL CHARGES FOR TRYING TO ESCAPE CUSTODY. OFFICIALS SAY 21-YEAR-OLD TORIAN CLEGGETTE WAS IN CUSTODY ON A PROBATION VIOLATION SUNDAY NIGHT AND GOT AWAY FROM AN OFFICER WHILE BEING ESCORTED INTO THE JOHNSON COUNTY JAIL. POLICE LOCATED HIM ABOUT TEN MINUTES LATER AND CHARGED WITH WITH ESCAPE FROM CUSTODY AND INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS. CLEGGETTE WAS ARRESTED ON JULY 7TH FOLLOWING A STAND-OFF AT A RESIDENCE ON TAYLOR DRIVE. THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS HAS PLACED A DETAINER ON HIM.
